L/A Hearing Center, a component of Sandcastle Clinical and Educational Services, offers comprehensive hearing health care for people of all ages from infants to adults.
L/A Hearing Center provides personal, yet professional, service and expert hearing assessment, including hearing aid selection, fitting, and adjustment, cleaning, and repair of aids and assistive devices in a non-pressured atmosphere. Custom hearing protection may be obtained. Strategies for successful communication and adjustment to new devices are an important part of the process.
The Center has state of the art equipment including a real-ear probe microphone system to measure what hearing aids are doing while being worn in real-time, a tool recognized as the gold standard according to Consumer Reports and experts in the field. A recent study indicated that 2/3 of hearing aid fittings are not providing optimal results. Selecting an experienced, trained, and committed audiologist is key to achieving the best performance.
Appointments may be set up in many cases with a PCP referral should there be medical issues such as: sudden hearing loss, a difference in hearing between the ears, ringing, roaring etc. that is intrusive, ear pain or ear infection, head trauma, noise trauma, use of ototoxic drugs. Testing to aid your PCP in making a medical diagnosis is generally covered by insurance.

Hearing loss affects about 48 million Americans according to the World Health Organization.
Hearing loss affects social life, mental health, income, and overall quality of life.
1 in 5 Americans have hearing loss and half of them are younger than 65!
A thorough, objective, hearing evaluation should be obtained to rule out medical issues that may be treatable before purchasing a hearing aid.
